Bit old but there is firmware updates for Ares II Plus using the pc software Can change shift,UK channels inputted. Haven't a clue engineering wise they got rid of fine and coarse was a bit stupid idea 💡 I think 🤔 But they're you go ,not my pay grade down to UK dealers to stipulate specs when buying in stocks. Hi - I understand the USA version doesn't have FM which is not the end of the world as I have other radios that does FM. I also note it cannot be expanded so just midband 40 ch. For AM and SSB is this radio worth the compromise over a 6900 or similar in terms of quality and audio? I will mainly use SSB on the mid-band so if the performance is there then it would suit my needs. Also it is £100 cheaper than the EU version. Thanks Ant

Love this radio bought it NIB and cam pre modded with the 11 band from factory it has no PD in the menu. The output and receive is great paired with the Stryker A10MAG antenna have talked around the world! you cant go wrong with this radio

rigsearch, If you havent sold the radio yet and haven't come up with a solution. Thr Ares II and QT40 radio current production firmware if u go into the setup menu I forget the actual menu but i was able to change the 500hz to 5khz for movement. That should solve it for you. If you have an old firmware you can try updating. The photo on thr box is of the older ares radio the in you have is like current production. They are very stable on SSB. 73 from 724 Chicago.

Found this really useful as I recently purchased one new, a couple of things you need to do from new is 1. bridge the jumper bit on the circuit board, 2. Change the PD setting using the passcode 1234 3. Change the setting in the menu for UK to "On" and maybe turn the RF Power down so it is compliant with UK Law. Although that said I still think you could lose it as it is apparently illegal in the UK. I would have struggled to find any of this out with videos like this on UA-cam.
